On May 6 and 7, 2016 the National Office of Erasmus + in Samarkand conducted two seminars with the participation of experts on higher education (HEREs). On the first day training on project management was conducted, which was attended by more than 82 representatives of 19 universities, as well as employees of the Main Scientific and Methodological Center under the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education.
The first day of the seminar, which was held in the Institute of Agriculture in Samarkand, has been devoted to project management on the Capacity Building of Higher Education (CBHE). In his welcoming speech, the Rector prof. T.E. Astanakulov noted the importance of international cooperation and the contribution of EU programs in the modernization of higher education. The seminar in the Institute of Agriculture in Samarkand on the 6th of May 2016 was dedicated to one of the important themes “Effective Project Management” for coordinators of 12 new projects on “Capacity development in Higher Education” of the Erasmus + programme. Participants were briefed on the main issues and were able to gain practical project management skills. By the end of the seminar the manual “Guide for local coordinators of the Erasmus+ projects” will be revised. It was proposed to:
- create the Advisory Council of Local Coordinators (defining goals, objectives and timetable of the Methodological Council);
- create methodological tools on the project management for local coordinators;
- build the capacity of local coordinators on project management.

Second seminar on the Bologna process for eight universities of Samarkand has covered issues of the European strategy 2020, the possibilities of cooperation in the framework of Erasmus+ programme, mobility and the development of new projects. The experts presented the Erasmus+ programme opportunities for local higher educational institutions, conducted analysis of priorities for the development of higher education of Uzbekistan and the Bologna process.
